The Party Rental Owner’s Guide to Google Business Profile
If you only fix one thing about your online presence this month, make it your Google Business Profile. It’s free, it’s the single biggest driver of ready-to-book phone calls, and most rental owners set it up once in 2019 and never touched it again. That neglected profile is why a competitor with worse equipment is getting your weekend bookings.
We took our own party rental profile from an afterthought to #1 in the map pack. Here’s the operator’s checklist.
Your profile is your storefront on the map
When someone searches “bounce house rental near me,” the three businesses in the map pack get the overwhelming majority of the calls. Your Business Profile decides whether you’re one of them. Google ranks the pack on three things: relevance (does your profile match the search?), proximity (are you near the searcher?), and prominence (are you active and trusted?). You can influence all three.
The checklist that actually moves rankings
- Pick the right primary category. This is the highest-impact setting on the whole profile. “Party equipment rental service,” “Bounce house rental service,” “Tent rental service” — match how customers search. Then add every relevant secondary category.
- Set your service area by real towns. List the actual towns you deliver to, not a fuzzy radius. This feeds proximity and tells Google exactly where you compete.
- Fill in everything. Hours, phone, website, services, attributes, a real description. A complete profile outranks a half-empty one — completeness is a signal.
- Add real photos, regularly. Your inventory, your team, actual delivered setups. Fresh photos say “active, legitimate business.” Stock photos say the opposite.
- Post weekly. Offers, new inventory, seasonal availability. Posting keeps the profile active — and active profiles rank.
- Answer questions and reviews. Respond to every review, good or bad, and seed the Q&A with the questions customers actually ask.
Reviews are the accelerant
Prominence is mostly reviews — recent, frequent, responded-to. A steady flow of new 5-star reviews does more for your map ranking than almost anything else. Build a simple system to ask every happy customer the moment a job wraps. (More on that in our ranking playbook.)
Don’t stop at the profile
Here’s what most “just optimize your GBP” advice misses: the profile ranks better when it’s backed by a real website with matching service and location pages. Google cross-checks. A polished profile pointing at a thin, one-page site hits a ceiling fast. The profile and the site work together — which is why we run both as one system.
